Youth Club at Paul D. West Middle School in a discussion around the origins of
the Black Greek Lettered Organizations. After learning about the storied
history and current contributions of each organization, the students were tasked
with creating their own fictitious fraternities and sororities – a great
learning experience.

Omicron Phi Lambda tapped to Host Alpha’s Regional Convention
The 2009 Southern Region Convention of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. was held
in the city of Atlanta March 26-29, 2009. Along with Omicron Phi Lambda, its
protégé chapter Nu Mu Chapter (Georgia Tech) co-hosted. Although small in

Chapter Twice, District Twice – Now SOUTHERN REGION!
Hard work in the name of Alpha definitely pays off. For two years straight Dan
Sims won Omicron Phi Lambda Chapter’s Brother of the Year Award. Then, for two
straight years he went on to win the Georgia District (State) Chapter of the
Year Award. Now, the entire Southern Region knows what the Chapter and Georgia
District knew all along – Dan Sims is THE Brother of the year for the Southern
Region. Dan will now represent the entire Southern Region as he competes
against 4 other Brothers for the National title in July 2009. The competition
will be tough, but Dan will undoubtedly bring the title back to East Point!
