"Every
Student is Prepared" Youth Club Graduates 50!
On Saturday, May 17th 2008,
the ladies of AKA (Tau Epsilon Omega Chapter) and AфA (Omicron Phi Lambda
Chapter) held a graduation event
to officially mark the end of the ESP Club’s 7 month sessions.
The two organizations teamed and lead the students through several financial
literacy topics along with subjects to prepare them for the rigors of High
School and College study.
Along
with completion certificates, the students were given a charge on exactly what
to do with the knowledge they’ve learned – “use it!” Other awards were
distributed as well including $50 savings bonds and a grant to attend a 2-week
entrepreneurship summer camp. The day was capped with music, good food, arts &
crafts and hearty “Thank-You’s” from the participants.

O-Phi Brothers Marched and Marched
and Marched…
Over the weekends of April 18th and 25th 2008, the chapter
Brothers participated in two critical events – the March of Dimes and American
Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.
For the 6th consecutive
year, the men of O-Phi have shown their commitment to the American Cancer
Society's nationwide, annual fundraising effort. The OPL team celebrated its
efforts by joining other fundraisers for a night of festivity including music,
food, games, and an overnight march until 7AM! Then, the brothers rested up and
prepared for the next weekend…
Since joining in a strategic partnership with the March of
Dimes in 1980, Alpha Phi Alpha Brothers have done their part to ensure that
premature babies get the best care possible - and O-Phi has also answered the
call. The chapter’s previous leadership efforts were recently recognized in a
national publication (The Sphinx) and there is also an Ambassador Family among
the O-Phi ranks (pictured below). This is the 3rd year of O-Phi
participating in the 5.2 mile run/walk with no signs of slowing down. March on
Brothers…
